Aish's Latest Gossips
But there seems to be a bit of problem there. Ash won't be back in time to start "Umrao Jaan" on schedule.
Says Dutta: "It is not her fault at all. Apparently, the shooting of her foreign film is behind schedule. And there will probably be a delay of a week. It's a routine delay and one for which she is in no way responsible.
"Her contract for the foreign film clearly states that there can be a spillover in the shooting dates. She has no choice but to stay back.
"But that really puts me in a fix. How do I start the film without Ash? There is no 'Umrao Jaan' without Umrao! It is like Agra without the Taj Mahal."
Has JP spoken to Ash?
"She had called for Ganesh Chaturthi. About the dates? No! Her secretary has been in touch and he has informed me of the inevitable delay. We are trying to work out a solution. But it looks like I will have to start building my Agra without the Taj Mahal."

John to work with Deepa Mehta's again!
Deepa says, "After Water, I've realised how professional and pleasant Indian actors can be. John's discipline before, during, and after Water is exemplary. Here was an actor from an English-speaking background who mastered the Sanskrit words in the dialogue, learnt to play the flute, wear a dhoti, and who came on location to Sri Lanka fully prepared. I was bowled over. As the shooting progressed I realised what a fine performer John was. I think subconsciously I had made up my mind to work with him again even before Water was complete."
John will now play a pivotal role in Deepa's Komagata Maru, a film for which Deepa is keen to have Amitabh Bachchan in the central role. "I think it is important to have the cast in place, and I see Mr Bachchan and John in this film."When she elaborates on the impression John left on her and the movie-going public in Toronto, Deepa says, "His goodness of heart shows up on screen and in his real-life conduct. You've no idea of the kind of impact John has made with his performance. He has mobs of fans of every age and gender running after him."
Deepa is regretful that her first choice for the two leads in Water didn't work out. "I sincerely wanted Kareena Kapoor for the female lead. I had seen her in Refugee and thought she was the perfect blend of beauty and talent. She's ethereal. I though she would be perfect as Kalyani. Kareena seemed excited then. Then suddenly I was only left to deal with her secretary… As for Rahul Khanna, I am very fond of him. It's a pity he couldn't do Water. But it was all for the best, because I can't imagine Water without John and Lisa."
John goes into Komagata Maru as soon as Deepa finishes her script.

NEW - "It questions my sexuality," Shah Rukh!
Shah Rukh Khan is the second male, after Paul Newman, to do a Lux ad but is one step ahead since he takes he plunge, into the bathtub filled with rose petals and with his tongue-n-cheek humour, saying he's going to reveal his beauty secret. The Lux ad has created waves just like everything he does. But Shah Rukh regrets over what people think that it's a girlie ad. "It questions my sexuality," said Shah Rukh. Then why is he doing the job? "I love the idea of getting into the tub, just as I had seen all my lovely leading ladies do," said Shah Rukh, his self-confidence untouched. "Lux is now 75 years old or something, therefore the need to do something different with the product. I am quite enjoying the feeling of doing the ad, specially since at the end of the ad all my leading ladies come on," added Shah Rukh.

Delhi Police deny permission to Shah Rukh show
With just three days to go for the first ever live concert of Shah Rukh in Delhi, the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) Wednesday informed about the cancellation of the show.
"With utmost pain and deepest regret, I have to inform that the long awaited concert will not be held. The police denied us permission citing possible law and order problems and we are helpless," Javed Abidi, executive director of NCPEDP told IANS.
NCPEDP, a non-governmental organisation was organising the show to raise money for the welfare of disabled people.
"It is a mockery of capability of the police department. Even the chief minister and the chief secretary of the state did not help us stage the show. Here authorities do not help people who fight for a good cause," Abidi said.
According to police, the show was likely to attract more than 50,000 people and this could lead to an uncontrollable situation. However NCPEDP does not accept this.
"When we were selling tickets and giving passes to only 28,250 people, there is no question of more people entering the venue," he added.
Though the show was conceptualised two months ago, the performance ran into trouble early over the permission of a suitable venue.
Without getting the clearance from the fire department, the show, which was originally supposed to take place in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, had to relinquish hopes for that venue.
Till yesterday, it was known that the concert would take place in a field adjacent to the stadium, for which the organisers had procured no-objection certificates from both the electricity and fire departments.
But the Delhi Police finally decided not to allow the show, the organisers informed.

I am becoming a grandfather for the second time - I have an eight-year-old granddaughter (daughter Sunaina's child)."
Hrithik, who has just landed in Singapore, is a tad cautious, "Life is an evolution and today I am on to the next stage - fatherhood. There is always a fear of the unknown. But that's the fun of it all. I am looking forward to becoming a father - I was ecstatic when I heard!"
