NEW The acclaimed Indian director Shyam Benegal is busy working on his latest movie Chamki, which stars the talented Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar in the lead role. The story looks at the life of a small community in Rajasthan, who officially work as entertainers (snake charmers, dancers etc) but are also involved in petty crimes such as cross border smuggling. Jimmy Shergill is playing the male lead opposite Urmila. Shooting for the project should begin in India towards October 2005.
Says Pravesh Sippy [who was earlier with Popcorn and is now the C.O.O. of WSG Pictures], "We hope to start filming CHAMKI in October-end." Meanwhile, the production house has also acquired the rights of a book, 'The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari', which will take shape of a film soon.
