Finally the day arrived when Delhi got a chance to have a dekko at Shah Rukh Khan, who performed at his home ground for the first time ever. And weren't the Delhites simply enthralled!
In a scintillating performance that enthralled packed-to-capacity Indira Gandhi indoor stadium, King Khan and his fellow performers - ravishing Rani Mukherjee, zippy Zayed Khan, perky Priyanka Chopra and ecstatic Esha Deol kept everyone on their toes. And yes, there was Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant and the voice of Nikki - Shweta Pandit - of Neal N Nikki fame who kept the 'halla' going.
In a show that had SRK as the main star, one expected a much delayed start to the event. But it was a pleasant experience for the crowd as it began with just about a 40 minutes delay from the expected beginning. And no, the show didn't end before time! In fact it went beyond the planned end time to give Dilliwaasis a complete paisa vasool experience.
As expected, King Khan ruled the show as he also took over as the show's MC. But more about that later as lesser stars like Abhijeet and Shweta too made their presence felt. Abhijeet was in his usual 'Mohabbatein Lutaaoonga' mode and though he performed decently, one thought that he would have something newer and better to offer. But it was Shweta who took the breath away with all the cheers and hooting going around in her support. She came up with a tremendous performance and mesmerized the audience with her naughty'n'exciting songs.
With all this happening around them, how could stars be far behind? Youthful and excited as ever, newly married Zayed Khan hardly gave an indication that he had any plans to be out of attention from the PYTs [pretty young things]. He was at his teasing best and made the youngsters dance along with him. The lighting was just perfect, the sound was just right, the ambience was simply inviting and lo - the stage was set for Zayed to come up with an electrifying show.
The girl brigade of Rani, Priyanka and Esha were not pushovers either with each of them giving ample support to SRK, who was the center of attraction of one and all. With Esha continuing to have the audience jive to the beats of 'Dhoom Machale', SRK soon stormed the stage to dominate the proceedings. And this was the moment that audience in thousands was always waiting for!
His performance was not just a song'n'dance routine. In fact it got much more personal. He invited folks from the audience to join him in the proceedings that formed the most exciting part of the proceedings. He single handedly took charge of the stage and created a rocking feel all around. Whether it was a 10 year old kid or a 50 year old businessman, everyone was just overwhelmed by the power of THE KHAN.
This is what two corporate folks Shefali Agrawal [30] and Vikrant Gupta [32] had to say about his performance - "We saw him in movies and we saw in ads. And we knew he is a star. And now when we saw him in action, we know why he is a SUPERSTAR!"
Yes Shahrukh, you won over the Delhites all over again. And we know you would be back.
Great show!
