The business of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI, which has now been declared a universal success, is likely to get a further boost in Maharashtra, with the film being cleared for a tax-free status. According to sources in Vinod Chopra productions, the Revenue Minister, Narayan Rane and his committee, recently viewed the film and were full of praise for its content. "We are expecting the tax-free status to come in any moment before the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations on October 2," this source revealed. It may be recalled that the film has been already accorded a tax-free status in Delhi and Chattisgarh, where it is running to packed houses. The film is said to have grossed an estimated business of Rs 12 crores in Mumbai territory so far in its three-week run.

According to Nizam distributor, Ravi Macchar, a special screening of the film was also held for top celebrities in the south industry, including Mahesh Babu, junior N T R and producer-director, Dassari Narayan Rao, who is also the State Minister of Coal. "The film is likely to get the tax-free clearance in a couple of days in Hyderabad," Macchar revealed, adding that one of the largest software companies in Hyderabad, Infosys, had organized a special screening of the film for its software techies.
