John Abraham has bagged a role in David Dhawan's Hook Ya Crook. He will be replacing Siddharth, the brooding boy from Rang De Basanti, in the film. The film will also star Amrita Rao and Sharman Joshi.
The film announced in 2006 was all set to be on the floors by early 2007. According to a source, the change in cast is attributed to this delay. "Siddharth was very hot in 2006 because Rang De Basanti was so successful," reasoned the source. "Now after two years the scene is quite different. Considering the selling point, they had to replace Siddharth with Abraham. They have also signed Sharman," he continued.
David Dhawan, Sharman Joshi and Ram Mirchandani from UTV were not available for comment.
Hook Ya Crook will be different from Dhawan's typical style of slap stick comedy. The movie will be a thriller, a comedy and a romance all rolled into one.
