Beijing: Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om track Dhoom Tana made an appearance at the Beijing Olympics!
The Israeli team participating in the rhythmic gymnastics brought B-Town music to the fore by performing their final routine to the beats of Dhoom Tana (music scored by Vishal-Shekhar) from OSO. The gymnasts included Katerina Pisetsky, Veronika Vitenberg, Rahel Vigdozchik, Maria Savenkov and Olena Dvornichenko.
Says a source, "People watching the day's events were taken by surprise when the Israeli team came to perform their final routine. When the five-member Israeli girls' team started performing the three-hoops and two-clubs routine to the Dhoom Tana track, everyone was shocked. The track was picturised on Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in OSO (pictured above)."
The entire routine, lasting about three minutes, had the score running through with the tempo growing towards the end and culminating in a single formation by the Israeli girls, a performance that gave them sixth position overall in the team sport where Russia claimed gold with China and Belarus taking silver and bronze respectively.
Farah Khan says, "I don't know how the Israeli team came across the number and the reason for their choice, but I am very excited.
Two of my dancers saw it on TV and informed me about it. Apparently, Dhoom Tana is also popular in the USA.
Two American dancers performed to the song in the hugely popular American dance show, So You Think You Can Dance? and it's all over YouTube.
The video is very popular and has had over a million hits. I am happy that OSO music as gone to international levels and even the world is dancing to our tunes. Dhoom Tana has great Indian energy."
