But even that didn’t deter Jaju. Says her friend, “The moment she changed her number, Jaju got hold of the new one and messaged her instantly. He would even taunt her about trying to get rid of him by changing the number. And the messages were filthy.”
Even a monetary settlement some time ago failed to end Jaju’s compulsive obsession with Priyanka. In fact, Jaju continued to harass not only Priyanka, but also her father. He would deliberately see to it that court cases on Dr Ashok Chopra were filed from towns outside Mumbai, so that he was forced to travel unnecessarily even though he is ill. That’s what really hurt Priyanka. “He can harass me. Why does he trouble my ill father?” she would say, often breaking down before her close friends.
Jaju who has worked with several other people in the industry became Priyanka’s secretary when she came into the film industry in 2002. Initially, Jaju did get Priyanka a few plum assignments but after the release of her first two films, The Hero and Andaaz, Jaju’s interference in her personal life began to hassle Priyanka. Jaju grew so possessive that he tried to keep tabs on all her friends and social activities. Understandably, Priyanka sacked him, a snub that Jaju’s ego couldn’t take. Then began his revenge on Priyanka and her father Dr Chopra who had once welcomed Jaju into their home.

"Is India ready for a Brokeback Mountain?" - Karan Johar

Is Dostana a gay romance?
No, John and Abhishek play two straight guys who pretend to be gay. As the trailers say, it’s a tiny lie that they tell because of certain circumstances.
Is it an updated version of the 1980s buddy film with the same name?
It has absolutely nothing in common with that film (which my father made) except the name. Oh, and both films have two actors with a sexy girl between them.
So you would be surprised to hear that the original Dostana that starred Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha is also occasionally read as a film with gay subtext.
I wonder what my father would think of that. But you know in India we find it slightly embarrassing to watch male bonding. (Laughs)
You started a trend of self-referencing in Bollywood with Kal Ho Na Ho. And in these trailers you seem to be making fun of your older films.
Oh yes, Tarun and his team had a lot of fun making these trailers. In Bollywood we have a new romcom coming out every month. These trailers have you thinking, "Oh God, another film that says it's an eternal love story" and then you plummet straight into this mad plot.
I learnt something from making Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. I learnt that it's possible to make a Rs 70 crore film about infidelity with stars as big as Shah Rukh Khan. And people accepted it. So I will push the boundaries with each of my films. People judged me far too quickly. They decided that I would make only mushy films but I will break new ground every year. We have to leave behind the tone of the films we made in the 80s and the 90s. But is India ready for a big, serious film like Brokeback Mountain yet? I would say it won't go down too well yet. But we will open the doors for other filmmakers in the future.
Communities who have made major contributions to cinema have been oddly subject to terrible stereotyping on screen. Like Muslims and Anglo-Indians in Bollywood. Do you think the industry is homophobic?
I don't think people confident in their own skills would be homophobic. If you are educated and have been brought up in an urban milieu it's quite ridiculous if you are homophobic. It either means you are insecure or you have never read a book. Or that you are in denial of your own orientation. Homophobia speaks volumes about who you are. That's as far as the industry is concerned. As filmmakers I think we have a great responsibility to be sensitive to the feelings of all communities. We Asians are an emotionally volatile and dramatic lot. Tarun and his team have made a film that is fun but does not poke fun. It is not callous and does not hurt the dignity of gay people in any way. It may shock a small part of the population, but I think most people would enjoy it.
What do you feel about being a gay icon?
It's very flattering to be an icon to any community. I have been asked many times about my own orientation but I will never discuss my personal life. People can look at me or look down at me, I don't care. What I do and where I do it and who I do it with is nobody's business but mine.

"Not that I planned for God Tussi Great Ho and Chamku to come one after another. But fortunately I look very different in both. In God Tussi Great Ho, I'm dressed in shorts and jeans. I wear a nose-ring throughout the film…a very hip and 'today' thing to do. In Chamku, I'm a school teacher. So I dress in a saree."
She is all gooey-eyed about her Chamku co-star. "Bobby and I go back a long way. He and Sunnyji are a part of my initial phase in Mumbai. Sunnyji did my first film The Hero with me when I was a nobody. He didn't have to. But he encouraged a newcomer. I'll never forget that. As for Bobby, we've done two films together before. I'd do anything for the Deols' banner, Vijeta Films, anytime."
Is that why she agreed to be in Chamku although it's an out-and-out Bobby vehicle? "It's Bobby's film. But I've a substantial role. I am the shoulder he cries on. Sometimes it's good to be a shoulder instead of shouldering a film," she chuckles.
As for Salman, "We really had a good time shooting God Tussi Great Ho. That sense of enjoyment shows up on screen."

,The Unforgettable Tour
It's amazing what a power of three can do to a film and the Tour. Yes, I am talking about the Bachchan family, Amitabh, Abhishek, and Aishwarya. First it was their film Sarkar Raj that grossed almost £400,000 in the U.K. and now it's their Unforgettable Tour which is selling like hot cakes in America. Not surprised to find out that all the shows are almost house full, I was more than curious to know Mr. Bachchan's recovery. So what if one of the power house took a back seat, we still had the power of three. This time it was Jayaji, Abhishek, and Aishwarya who took over the proceedings. Hours before his first live performance in L.A. Abhishek Bachchan sounds upbeat...and why not? He is having a great response from the Tour so far, is highly excited about his next release Drona, is desperate to perform in front of his audience in London and of course, boosting with happiness to see his dad, our very own Big B, fully recovered. All this and much more from Abhi in this exclusive chat from L.A with Bollywood Hungama's Devansh Patel.
So, how's dad and what do the doctors say?
Nothing, dad's good now. He is just at the rehearsals at the moment. He is back on his feet. He was fine yesterday and the day before. He had a bit of a cold but I forced him to stay in bed because I didn't want it to spread into something which was uncontrollable. So as a son, I demanded that he stay in his room and locked him up. Dad has got a tendency that he pushes himself so much but thankfully he is fine now.
From Toronto to Trinidad to L.A. How's the journey been so far?
The journey has been awesome. The reactions have been over-whelming. I never expected to see this kind of reaction. We were told that every centre, which was to host the show, was pretty much sold out except for the European leg because we haven't come there yet. But America is completely sold out. And all this is just so wonderful because when you get on to the stage and see the audiences reactions, you know that you are not performing for yourself but for them. This Tour is for the audiences and will always be.
First the unforgettable Sarkar Raj collections in the U.K and then this Tour. Looks like London's the hot-spot for the Bachchan's.
London is a wonderful city. A city that is very close to our hearts. We spent a lot of time there as a family during holidays, we've done a lot of work over there and we're very glad that we're going to be coming to London in August. One thing I've been saying to the members of the media that London is definitely going to be the biggest and the best. So we're saving that for the last.
And what else are you doing in your spare time?
Well, there isn't much spare time because of the nature of the Tour. The minute you reach a new destination, you first get into all this media and promotional activities after which it's just down to rehearsals. But it's also important for you to know that nobody is taking this Tour lightly. Everybody is working very hard to put up the best show. We do realize that it is a demanding schedule but the endeavor was to put up the biggest and the best show that we could possibly do and I believe we've got such a show on our hands. Could you recall one unforgettable incident from your Tour so far?
I think that was when the first time I came on stage in Toronto, the minute the lights come on, I just went blank. I forgot everything and I had to pass through the audience. I froze because the audience was all around and they were jumping around trying to reach out and touch me and shouting slogans. I was totally blanked out. Then finally, my manager Mambo Sharma, who was also from the U.K pulled me and said, "Come on bro, you're on stage, move it". And I replied, "Wait a second. Let me enjoy this a bit more." But it was truly unforgettable. And the unforgettable moment was that I forgot everything.
Mr. Bachchan on his blog stated that Trinidad is like a homecoming for you guys. When you were a five year old, you performed along side your dad on stage for the first time in Trinidad. So how far did that memory go?
Dad used to do a track from his earlier film, Mr. Natwarlal, called, 'Mere paas aao mere dosto' in which he brought my sister and me on to the stage to introduce us to the audience. Now that's a good 25 to 27 years ago. So it was wonderful to go back to Trinidad and win the place in the audiences hearts where we had been before for such shows.
Every Bollywood actor would once dream of dancing with Madhuri Dixit. Any plan?
I have plans of dancing with Madhuriji on the stage in L.A tomorrow night. So the plan is working.
For the first time while working, the Bachchans won't be missing each other. But do you miss the hot Indian food?
No. Wizcraft made sure that wherever we travel, we were very well fed with our Indian ghar ka khaana. Can't miss that for sure!
We are also hearing rumors that Amsterdam isn't going to be the last city where you guys will be wrapping the Tour on the August 29. What else is up the sleeve?
Well, currently there are talks to do another show in Dusseldorf in Germany as they have requested us to do the show there. Plus, the second leg does start post September which will be in the Middle East, Far East and Australia and then we move on to Africa. So the Unforgettable Tour will be continuing. The exact dates though are not confirmed yet. Everyone is talking about Big B, Abhi and Ash on the stage together. The family is incomplete without Jayaji. Is she going to shake a leg too?
She is on the Tour with us and she will be coming on stage and perform with us. You have to wait and see what song we perform on. Can't tell you now.
After performing some hot numbers on stage in hot locales, how do you plan to cool yourself down after all this tiring schedule?
To be very honest, when you're out there in the audience, you don't think about the heat or the exertion. Their love and support just carries you through every hurdle. You can't think of cooling yourself down. On my part, the minute this Tour gets over, I'll be back in Mumbai finishing my film Dostana and getting ready to release Drona which releases on October 2.
How's the response of the Drona trailer been? Any news?
It's a teaser trailer and the first look into the film Drona. The response has been really huge. On the Drona website, www.dronathefilm.in, the response has been fantastic. Even in the kind of fan mail I'm getting, people are loving the trailer which is great because we've worked hard on it and it's wonderful to see the audience liking the work we've done.
We've also seen couple of exclusive pictures of you, John and Priyanka from Miami while filming Dostana. It's all looking great. Now that you're in the U.S, does it bring back the Dostana days?
Well yeah. I was in Miami not too long ago shooting Dostana. We transited through Miami on our way to Trinidad and Tobago. It does bring back those good days.
Any last message for your fans who are going to see you next month performing in London?
To the audiences in London, we are willing to meet you all. We will hopefully make an unforgettable evening for you. It's a wonderful show and you can be rest assured of a lot of entertainment and a lot of variety. I'm really looking forward to perform at the O2 arena. Love you all.

An exclusive look at Dostana
Dharma Productions' next release is the Abhishek Bachchan- John Abraham- Priyanka Chopra starrer Dostana. The film is directed by Karan Johar's erstwhile assistant Tarun Mansukhani. A major portion of the film was shot in the sun-clad beaches of Miami and needless to say, the cast and crew had the time of their lives. As can be seen from the still, the trio of AB Jr., John and Priyanka look completely chilled out enjoying a drink on the beach. While John looks super-duper fit, even Priyanka looks sizzling hot in this green dress. As for AB Jr., he looks like a complete dude with a scarf around his neck and cool glares to beat the sun.
The shooting of the film is almost complete barring an item number which is yet to be shot. Since Abhishek is now busy with his 'Unforgettable' tour, the song featuring all the 3 lead actors will be shot only when he returns in September. Dostana is about 3 friends and is portrayed as a cool, fun film. Looks like Johnny boy, AB Jr. and Piggy Chops indeed had a ball shooting with each other in the picturesque locales of Miami. While Priyanka seems to have her hands full with shopping bags, it's quite a funny sight to see John pushing AB Jr. in a shopping cart.
Going by the first look of the film and the chemistry which the actors share, Dostana indeed looks like a complete fun-filled experience. The film is slated to release on Nov 14 this year.

I’ve no problems with Salman: Priyanka Chopra

“It was an attempt at making something different. The special effects will still be a bench mark in this country,” she said defensively. But, no, she staunchly doesn’t think a director younger than Harman’s father, Harry, would have made a difference to this futuristic film. “It’s a hypothetical question, but I don’t think so,” she said dismissively. One year older, and wiser, she maintains that her fab figure (that the box office cannot deny) today is the result of over working and not taking time to rest. Priyanka, who finds birthdays very depressing, said, “I started getting depressed the day I hit 19, and now I’m like s*** man!”
Another touchy subject of this year: her equation with Salman Khan. Apparently, the actor was miffed by Priyanka’s unprofessional behaviour on the sets of God Tussi Great Ho, compounded by her refusal to act in brother Sohail Khan’s Mr & Mrs Khanna.
“I don’t have any problem with Salman,” said Priyanka. “I’ve worked with him in some of my earliest films and I’ll always respect him.” But then... “I haven’t discussed this with him so I’m not really sure what’s on that side.”
Those are the only clouds in her sunny skies, otherwise Priyanka’s kitty is full this year with one release after the other. “There’s God Tussi Great Ho, Chamku with Bobby Deol, Drona with Abhishek Bachchan and then Madhur’s Fashion,” she counted, “It’s like having exam fever every month.” With Harman Baweja, she’s doing What’s Your Rashi? What’s this “good friend” business with him? “I don’t want my personal life to be dinner conversation,” she said. Gettit?

Her dad, Dr Ashok Chopra, is gifting her a BMW 7 series, which costs around Rs 90 lakh.
A source close to Priyanka says, "She is so tied up with work that she hardly gets any time to do things for herself.
For the last four years Priyanka has been driving around in a Mercedes E class. She has been wanting to buy a new car but even though she often talked about it, she never got around to buying a new vehicle.
The family decided that her birthday was a perfect opportunity. They decided to get her the new Mercedes SLK 500 but finally settled for the BMW 7 series. Since Pranks (as beau Harman calls her) already had a Merc, they decided to buy her a different car."
The source adds, "Priyanka is not having any bash. She has been working non-stop for the past four months and just wants to spend quality time with her dear ones. She might visit an orphanage in the evening."
It is also learnt that Harman, too, is taking the day off to be with Priyanka on her birthday.

On the sets of Dostana, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra saw this side of the actor. Although his co-stars were polite enough to keep their reactions to themselves, not everyone found his pranks funny or cute.
An eyewitness recalls how the actor pulled a fast one on a spot boy working on the film.
"Abhishek went up to him and pretended to be very angry. He told the boy that he was unhappy with his attitude. After beating him for a few minutes, Abhishek took two steps closer to him and pretended to slap him really hard on his face.
In reality, what he did was slap his own hand but to everyone else on the set, it appeared like he'd slapped the guy, stunning the onlookers."
Abhishek has a kitty of pranks. Describing one of his other favourite pranks, a source adds, "Often, when a scene is going on, Abhishek pretends that he's got hurt and asks for the shot to be cut. He gives the impression that his co-star has injured. Everyone on the set rushes to him and then he reveals they have been punked!"
However, Abhishek's pranks on the sets are now getting boring, "It's getting a bit too much. Initially, everyone was falling for it, but now they just don't react to him anymore," concludes the source.
Maybe, Abhishek needs to come up with some original pranks.

Shooting in Film City over the weekend, Piggy Chops had a bad attack of asthma. Inspite of her ill health, the actress continued shooting as the schedule was a packed one and on that particular day she was shooting with the entire cast of Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Boman Irani and Kirron Kher. By evening, a concerned boyfriend, Harman Baweja visited the set with a doctor in tow as Priyanka had collapsed. The medico gave her an injection and some medicines and after some time, a very fresh looking Priyanka strolled into the set to give her shot.
Concerned about her, Tarun Mansukhani the director called for an early pack up but not before he canned one steadycam shot with Priyanka. But the day had not ended for Piggy Chops. Since she had called a media unit to shoot an interview for Love Story 2050, she insisted on finishing that before she left Film City in her white Mercedes.
An exasperated Mickey Contractor, who has been doing her make up retorted, “She is not silly, but stupid. Her professional attitude will be the death of her.”
All Priyanka had to say was, “I could not cancel the interview since they had come all the way to shoot and it is not nice to disappoint people.”
No wonder there are so many big banners working with her. With an attitude like that Priyanka Chopra not only won the respect of her colleagues but also of the media people. Something that is really hard to win.

The second half of 2008 is surely hotting up. A number of biggies are slated to hit the screens from June/July onwards and most of them indeed look promising. While the release schedule is packed with biggies, one more keenly anticipated film is also expected to arrive this year - Karan Johar's DOSTANA - which has been shot in Miami completely.
"I am looking at either November 14 or 21 for DOSTANA. I've yet to take a call on the release date," Karan informs me. Our guess is, Karan would prefer November 14, since the Big B starrer ALLADIN is confirmed for November 21 and obviously, it wouldn't be right to pit the father [Big B - ALLADIN] and son [Abhishek - DOSTANA] on the same date. Right?

"I shot through pain" - John Abraham
Labels:

,Bollywood News

Pain suffering and bereavement bring out the best in an actor. Madhubala and Meena Kumari shot their best work Mughal-e-Azam and Pakeezah, respectively, when they were dying.
Shammi Kapoor's wife Geeta Bali died when he was shooting Teesri Manzil (the song 'Tumne Mujhe Dekha' was shot just 'daze' after Shammi's beloved's death). And Suneel Darshan's Jaanwar which many believe to be Akshay Kumar's best films was shot while his father was terminally ill.
John Abraham shot Aashayein while both his parents were ill, and in hospitals at different times. And John, as any one including Bipasha will tell you, lives for his parents. Recalling the harrowing period John says, "Illnesses in the family do scare you a lot. I really believe I'm a family person. My parents are the most important people to me. Their health is very important to me."
But John learnt to alchemize the pain. Sorrow was used for creative satisfaction. "Looking with or without regret is honestly not my space. I'd much rather would look ahead. I believe there's a third axis beyond contentment and regret, and that's my axis. I can't have a two-dimensional attitude to my work. I'll always look and find the third dimension"
Brand John Abraham continues to do well in spite of the man choosing to lie really low in recent months. "I believe after a point one's name and the brand acquires a life of its own regardless of failure or success. That's what's happened to me. People have started believing in the kind of person I am and the clothes I wear. I believe I contribute a lot to my brand, as much as it contributes to me. My clothes lineup is going great. The John Abraham clothes line has grown by word of mouth. We've created an artificial scarcity for my clothes. It's a very niche brand with only seven stores across the country. It's like the 'True Religion' brand which you'd have a hard time finding even at Harrods. I do not want to go to the masses with my clothes lineup. It's a choice I've made."
In spite of the failure of Anurag Kashyap's No Smoking, John says he'll continue to seek unusual roles. "Conforming isn't my cup of tea. How boring is life if you conform. And how dull life would be if all I did was chase success. Sure, I want it. But I also want to take the untrodden path. It's the deviations that make my life exciting. Some of what I did last year might not have worked. But the fact that there was debate about them was enough for me. At least the kind of films I do make people curious."
However, the No Smoking experience has cautioned John about inept marketing. "I realize 'my' kind of cinema needs to be a little more commercial. You've to position your product properly. Products fail because they're sold to the wrong audience. No Smoking was sold to the wrong audience. My confidence level in my kind of cinema remains totally unshaken. I can't allow every opinion and every review devastate me. I need to have confidence in what I do. The fact that I've gotten where I am is proof that I'm on the right track. I believe I need to do more about my kind of cinema. And Aashayein is my kind of cinema."
He has just completed a long schedule of Karan Johar-Tarun Mansukhani's Dostana in Miami; "Priyanka Chopra is my co-star in Karan's film. She's a good girl, always a pleasure to work with. As for Abhishek, I really enjoy working with him and his father. And the director is Tarun Mansukhani a new boy with plenty to say."

"I don't think there is any comparison between Hrithik and Harman." - Priyanka Chopra

Togged in a lime green and ivory mini-dress, Priyanka Chopra sports a healthy, tanned, beach look. She walks in with a coffee mug and gives Kangana a brief smile, "Cut it, take OK," declares Madhur Bhandarkar jubilantly. After the shot, she gives us a "Let's go" signal . Acting sure comes easy to this 24-year-old! We snuggle into the corner of the room and flick on the dictaphone as the erstwhile Ms World gets chatting.
The year ahead sure looks busy for you.
Thank God for that! I am back after being in a sabbatical for a year and half. Love Story 2050 will be my first release after Salaam-e-Ishq. I have been working on Drona, Love Story 2050, Fashion, God Tussi Great Ho, Chamku and Dostana all this while and it 's been a long wait for my releases.
Apart from Harman, what was the exciting part of Love Story 2050 (LS)?
(Laughs) Well, the most exciting part about Love Story is the film itself. It is the first of its kind in India people haven't seen SFX of this kind in Indian cinema.
Not even in Krrish?
Not even in Krrish. Sure it was India's first superhero film with fantastic SFX. But LS is India's first sci-fi film. I am proud to be a part of both these films. The SFX in LS will set a high bar in India.
This is your first double role too, How have you made both the parts different?
Both the roles are different in terms of the character sketches as well as looks. The first part is of Sana, a present-day girl - she's very soft spoken, poetry loving, diary writing girl living in Australia. She's sweet and feminine, just 21. So I have kept a very soft look with light brown hair and eyes, peaches and cream complexion and a softer voice unlike mine that is of a much deeper quality.
Zayesha, on the other hand, is a pop star in the year 2050. She's boisterous, arrogant, loves herself - yet she's a girl inside, she feels lonely, as she doesn't have much of a family. Her parents died in a car crash and she only has her Nani who incidentally doesn't live with her. She lives with her little teddy bear named Boo, he's her governess cum best buddy - cuts fruits for her, takes out her clothes. Her pop album is called ME. Everything about her is herself. She's tomorrow's woman that yesterday spoke of. She's an enigma, a mystery. I wanted to make her drastically different so I gave her red hair darker skin tone, grey eyes and her clothes are of darker hues - black, blues and browns. Yet she's feminine enough for the hero to fall in love with.
Hrithik Roshan was compared to Shah Rukh Khan and Shah Rukh to Dilip Kumar and Shahid Kapoor to Shah Rukh. Every actor is compared to someone who's already been there. I was also compared to others. But everyone creates hisher own space in the Hindi filmdom. I don't think there is any comparison between Hrithik and Harman in terms of screen presence and also in terms of their approach to work. Having worked with both of them, the only thing that's common between them is that they are both very good to work with.
What sets Harman apart ?
Harman has very emotional and expressive eyes, which is very important for an actor. This film does not look like his first. He's very professional - like he is always on time. He knows filmmaking very well as he has studied it. He definitely has an edge over a lot of newcomers. This being a home production, he's been a part of everything -from SFX, direction to production and that also gives him an edge .
Harman is a newcomer, so the onus of LS rests on your dainty shoulders, doesn't it?
I don't think so, because the film is bigger than either of us. Generally love stories are small, cute, frothy films that depend on the actors. Although performances do matter even in this case, the story, the script and the effects are much larger. LS is much larger than either of us. So the top billing goes to the film and not to Harman or me. Which is why I am not taking any pressure. People will go watch the film and then there will be the curiosity about the new boy. I will come somewhere in between. (Laughs)
Of your half dozen releases in this calendar year, what will come next?
After LS, it will be Chamku. I have done several films with Bobby Deol including Dostana. I am very close to him and his family. Sunny Deol, after all, was my first film hero. It's great to be back with the Deols always.
Close on the heels is God Tussi Great Ho, How's the God in the film? Do you get to share the screen with him?
You will see a lot of God in the film and he's very funny too. It's a hilarious movie and the music is very good. I don't share screen space with Mr Bachchan playing God. I am with Salman Khan and Sohail Khan.
Are you through with Goldie Behl's Drona? It seems like a period drama.
Oh no! Drona is not a period film. It is based in today's time and age. It's a timeless epic story with big and beautiful visuals. It's the first of its kind film. Kids are going to love it with the action and magic in it. The shooting is over and effects are being worked upon .
We are through with 70 per cent of Fashion. My character has a great graph spanning over two years of her life. She wants to be a model, becomes one - this is the story of her rise and fall. Each part of the film is very vital because I have lots of different looks through the film. Fashion makes me nervous because I was in the fashion industry only for three months from Miss India to Miss World. Noyonika Chatterjee taught me how to walk the ramp then and I insisted that she be a part of the film as well. All the characters in the film have turned out beautifully. Madhur (Bhandarkar) has really held it together. It's not a dark film. It's very emotional .
Isn't the story almost like a biopic?
I drew a lot of references from my life. Just like the character in the film, I came from a small city with stars in my eyes. But the difference is that I could handle it while she couldn't. Lot of stories in the film are based on real life incidents too.
How does it feel to be the busybee?
Phew! I have to finish five films this year. I go home at twelve, take off the make-up, sleep, wake up at six and then get back to work. I have too much to do and have to finish it fast because I have to prepare for Vishal Bhardwaj's film.
Are you practising some ethnic strain of Hindi for the film? And why is the film called Kaminay?
Ha, ha, because the film is about Kaminay people. I have a lot of homework to do in the film. I am learning Marathi for it. It's a beautiful language with so much spunk to it. Kaminay, by the way, is an action comedy - it has nothing to do with Romeo And Juliet.
How was your Dostana schedule in Miami? Are you wearing a bikini in the film?
Miami was my best outdoors yet because I have a lot of cousins there. I enjoyed working with my director, Tarun and Karan of course is such an involved and indulgent producer. It was like a big party. To answer your question now - no, I don't wear a bikini in Dostana, I wear appropriate beach-wear though.
Last but not the least, What's Your Rashee? What you are doing in it?
It's a very interesting part for me and nothing that an Indian actor has ever done before. Only Ashutosh Gowariker can handle a subject like this. It is a romantic comedy with many hilarious layers to it. It is going to be a demanding film for me.

Bachchan Bahu refused to romance three men on screen
So when buddy Karan Johar offered Aishwarya a chance to work with Abhishek in Dostana, with the sunny beach-side atmosphere of Miami being a plus, she was all for it.
All seemed well, albeit, the role required her to romance not just Abhishek, but also John Abraham, and, finally walk away with a third man! The third man is to be played by none other than Bobby Deol, who makes a surprise entry at the end of Dostana. Karan Johar says, "Bobby has a very special role in the film." Special indeed, because he gets the girl from Abhishek and John!
Aishwarya refused Dostana simply because she couldn't see herself romancing three men on screen, with her married Bachchan-bahu status. Also, Dostana required her to sport a lot of beachwear. Having refused to wear beachwear in Dhoom 2 already, she didn't give a second thought to declining Dostana.
The lucky girl to have stepped into Aishwarya's role is Priyanka Chopra. Dostana is the second film where Priyanka Chopra has benefitted from Ash leaving the project, the first being Rohan Sippy's Bluff Master, in 2005. This would be Aishwarya's third project with John Abraham gone wrong. Gaurang Doshi's Happy Birthday never got made, and Sriram Raghavan's film is yet to take off.

On Dostana sets, Abhishek and John had female chauffeurs

Says a source from the unit, “It is not uncommon to have women drivers abroad. There no one calls them drivers or chauffeurs. They are PAs or production assistants. There’s no gender bias in the west.
During Kal Ho Naa Ho even Karan had one in New York. Both John and Abhishek had stunners for chauffeurs they were striking women. They looked more like models and less like chauffeurs and mixed comfortably with everyone on the sets including John and Abhishek.”
Equal footing
The source adds, “John was comfortable with his ‘production assistant’ and chatted with her whenever he was free. Abhishek initially appeared to be friendly with his chauffeur, but the day before Aishwarya was to arrive in Miami, his lady production assistant was replaced by an African-American male. Perhaps it was just a coincidence.”
John Abraham says, “It’s not just me but the entire cast and crew had women drivers. It’s not a big deal abroad as women and men are found equal in all professions and are taken according to their capability.”
These days John Abraham is busy with wedding preparations for his younger brother, Alan, a photographer by profession. Alan is to wed Anka in Romania. John says, “Alan will get married on May 24 and I am making all the arrangements for our parents to fly out there in the next couple of days while I will fly to Romania just a day before the D-day.” After a month-long shoot of Dostana, John is now spending quality time with his parents. “For me family is priority and I am trying to spend as much time with my parents as possible.”

Missing from the scene for quite some while with Salaam E Ishq being her last major release, it is going to be a hectic 2008 for Priyanka Chopra. So much so that she would have not one, not two, but as many as three films of her releasing in the space of three weeks. These are Love Story 2050, God Tussi Great Ho and Chamku.
Each of the three films would be coming in the month of July and while July 4 has been confirmed for Love Story 2050, producers Afzal Khan and Dharmendra are eyeing July 11 and July 18 for the arrival of God Tussi Great Ho and Chamku respectively. She has an interesting set of co-stars as well in the three films with Harman Baweja, Salman Khan and Bobby Deol vying for her attention.
However, an industry insider has to say here, "One wonders if Priyanka herself would be happy with three of her films arriving in such quick time. Not just would it too be too many things happening simultaneously in her career, she would also have to work extensively on the promotion of as many as three films simultaneously."
He goes on to add, "In addition, she can't really be expecting to catch on some breath even in weeks to follow since barely a month after her third release, she would be seen paired opposite Abhishek Bachchan in yet another high profile film of hers - Drona. A Goldie Behl fantasy costume drama, the film is all set for August 15 release."
What happens to Dostana and Fashion in the meantime?
"Poor girl doesn't seem to be sighting any break as of now. She has just returned from the Miami shoot of Karan Johar's Dostana and would be returning to the sets of Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion. Both Dostana and Fashion are also aiming at a release before the year ends."
Love Story 2050, God Tussi Great Ho, Chamku, Drona, Dostana And Fashion - Indeed there is a lot happening in Priyanka's life!

AB Baby’s long schedules

What started off with Refugee, his first film, appears to be something of a tradition for Bachchan Junior. A long and tedious shooting spell in Rajasthan for Refugee to his current film, Dostana, which is being shot in Miami, the actor has had to be away from the luxurious comforts of his home.
While he was in the United States of America for almost three months for Karan Johar’s Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna, this time round for the same film maker, AB has been in Miami since the last week of March and will be returning only on the 23rd of May.
When asked, AB only replied, “Ya, all my films have had long outdoor schedules”. Lets take a look at his last few films. Drona was shot in excruciating extremes in Rajasthan, Umrao Jaan was also shot in Rajasthan in the dead of winter, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom in London... Dus in Canada...the list is quite long.
And the irony is that Abhishek has his own make up van built like the interiors of a jetplane, all custom made to suit the actor’s luxurious needs. Well, well, well...

... and his name is Boo,’ says Priyanka Chopra about her cuddly genius
Priyanka Chopra, currently shooting in Miami for Karan Johar’s romantic comedy Dostana, can’t stop raving about the new love of her life.
“No, his name isn’t Harman. It’s Boo, a pet robot teddy-bear, who accompanies me everywhere in Love Story 2050. He’s all pink and the cutest creature on earth.
“I was aware of Boo from the time he was conceived. It was Harman Baweja’s sister Rowena who thought of Boo. I don’t think it would have happened without her. I’ve watched Boo acquire a life right in front of me. So it’s quite an exciting processs,” she says.
So attached has Priyanka become to Boo that she wants to carry him home after the shooting. And the Bawejas, who’ve watched Priyanka stand by their project from the time Kareena Kapoor opted out, would be only too happy to let Priyanka have her way.
“This is one film that’s filled with gadgets and electronic toys. But Boo is special, because he’s mine. Love Story 2050 is my second hi-tech film after Krrish. And I’m doing one more in Drona. But Love Story 2050 is special because I’m doing my career’s first double role with two different looks for the two halves set in different periods. Boo is part of my futuristic look. I feel this film carries sci-fi in India to another level,” says Priyanka.
Interestingly, Love Story 2050 will be followed by another FX-motivated adventure saga, Shankar’s Robot.
Priyanka had been signed for it when it was a different set-up with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead.
“When FX turned a corner with Krrish, I was a part of it. Now, when it somersaults with Love Story 2050 and Drona, I’m a part of both. I am proud to be in these projects.”
For the time being, she is enjoying herself in Miami with her co-stars.
“I’ve worked with Abhishek (Bachchan) and John (Abraham) before, but never like this. Their bonding is infectious. Dostana is one big party. Karan Johar is also here.”
Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan also joined the gang in Miami for a short period. Priyanka, meanwhile, is all praise for director Tarun Mansukhani. “The director is new, but his wit sparkles. He’s written an urbane, tongue-in-cheek comedy.”
So has she changed her mind about wearing a bikini? “Producer Karan Johar hasn’t asked me to wear a bikini. And I wouldn’t be comfortable in one. But this is a beach movie. So it’s only natural that I get into beach-wear. And I don’t mind that because everyone else will be wearing even tinier clothes.”
