"Aishwarya looks smashing in Robot"

Just as the world is impressed with 'Robot' (the movie's grossed over 1.56 million dollars in the US), Amitabh Bachchan is quite impressed with his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai's looks in the movie and describes her on-screen presence as "smashing".

Director Shankar's bilingual film - 'Robot' in Hindi and 'Endhiran' in Tamil, which has Rajnikanth playing the male lead, opened to rave reviews.

"Aishwarya looked smashing and danced like she had never danced before. Rajni…what can one say for this man. He is just unbelievable. The film is a roller-coaster ride of fun and ecstasy and events of mammoth proportions," Amitabh posted on his blog www.bigb.bigadda.com.

He saw the movie on October 4 at a special screening organised by Rajnikanth in Mumbai for the Hindi film fraternity.

"There was a large turn out from the industry - directors, producers, artists and all were simply blown to pieces by the product and its presentation. When you go to see a Rajni film, it's not the film that you wish to see. You see the film for the experience of it. And in this one, the experience is incredible," he added.

The sci-fi thriller, apparently made at a whopping budget of Rs.175 crore ($38 million), boasts of a lot of special effects and they wowed Big B.

"Merely putting his thoughts on paper must have been an exercise so desirable for the director Shankar. What and how did he think up all these ideas for the script from his mind is reason to envy and lament.

"Aamir (Khan), after the show was over, wanted to 'eat his brain' - Shankar's that is - to find out how he managed to conquer that world that he so effectively portrayed on screen."

"An incredible experience it was and I sincerely urge all those that reside in the world of Chennai to go see it first day first show. Rajni was incredible, Aishwarya was colourful and danced like a dream and content and delivery was simply extraordinary," he added.

Aamir wants to watch Rajni's 'Robot'

Aamir Khan says he is yearning to watch southern superstar Rajnikanth-starrer 'Robot'.

"I am most keen to see 'Robot'. Rajni sir rocks!" Aamir posted on his Facebook page.

The movie, which is called 'Endhiran' in Tamil, also features Aishwarya Rai. Apparently made at a budget of Rs.175 crore ($38 million), it is being lapped up by audiences, particularly in South India.

Actors who have seen the movie are all praise for it, but have pointed to its inordinate length.

Riteish Deshmukh posted on Twitter: "Superstar Rajni! He is a phenomenon. Action in 'Robot' is just what you want to watch as a Rajni fan. Go watch it now - a bit long but worth it."

Actor Tusshar Kapoor opined: "...quite a fun film but a bit long. Rajni looks young and energetic even at this age. No wonder he's such a superstar."

Actress Sameera Reddy went gaga over the 60-year-old actor. "As the No.1 Rajnikanth fan, I am so proud that he has kicked ass at the box office! So proud of you Rajni sir! You are the best!" she tweeted.

Chitti is coming to India

Chitti, the robot used in Shankar's film Robot, is coming to India. Its makers are keen to have the android here for the promotions of the Rajnikant-Aishwarya Rai film.

Though the rent of bringing it to India costs a whopper running into crores the makers are determined. The robot is in the Stan Winston Studio in California.

Says Shankar, "Yes, we are planning to fly down the android to India for our promotional activities." Chitti can act, speak, dance, give interviews. What more do you need for promotions?

Rajnikant spent 17 hrs in a bathtub!

For a scene in Robot, Rajnikant was confined to spending 17 hours in a bathtub! Without hesitating or asking for a body double, Rajni readily agreed to lay confined in the water.

The team gave the superstar vitamin supplements every two hours, so that he didn't feel weak as he had to forego food and water.

Says Shankar, the director of Robot, "Rajnikant is a thorough professional and dedicated, even though the scene was physically taxing."

"No other beauty like Aishwarya"

Rajnikant can't stop praising Aishwarya Rai after working with her on the Tamil film 'Endhiran', touted to be one of India's most expensive film projects.

According to a source present at the music launch of the film in Kuala Lumpur, Rajnikant said: "There is no other beauty in our generation like Aishwarya Rai. She is a born artiste."

Rajnikant, who also admires Aishwarya's father-in-law, megastar Amitabh Bachchan, added jokingly: "Amitabh is looking at me from there and warning me not to praise her too much," the source informed.

Though Amitabh was not present at the music launch, Rajnikant made his presence felt with his words.

Among those who attended the event were music director A R Rahman, director S Shankar and few other technicians, apart from Aishwarya and Rajnikant with his two daughters.

Aishwarya wore an outfit by Manish Malhotra, who has even designed her outfits in the action-packed sci-fi film, which was earlier titled 'Robot'.

The actress started her speech with a personal touch by greeting the 3,000-plus crowd in their native language.

The source said: "The crowd just went berserk... and was shouting 'We love you'." Aishwarya signed off by saying "see you" in their native language.

The film is set for a Sep 3 release.

Aishwarya Rai & Rajnikanth in 'Endhiran – The Robot' - Movie Stills

Aishwarya Rai's various avatars in 'Endhiran - The Robot'

Aishwarya Rai goes over the top in her look for Shankar's futuristic film Endhiran: The Robot.

Starring Rajnikanth in the role of a techno robot the film has Ash wear some interesting headgears and ensembles.

The film recently had a music launch in Malaysia and the promos have already created huge buzz about the special effects and stunts.

One of the highlights of this film is that Rajinikanth would be seen without his famed moustache in most parts thereby making him look much younger.

The last time director Shankar and actor Rajinikanth came together they had a huge hit with Sivaji -- The Boss.
