Who insulted Salman's sister?

It's been celebration time for Salman Khan and his family with the success of 'Dabangg'. But in between all that partying there's been trouble as well. No, we're not talking about Salman's 26/11 comments controversy. This was more of a physical fight, and it happened when Salman's sister Arpita and brother Sohail were out at Olive, one of Mumbai's most popular hangouts.


It seems that Arpita and Sohail, as well as their sister-in-law Malaika Arora Khan and her sister Amrita were sitting at tables next to each other. At an adjacent table was Mumbai-based builder Ashish Raheja, with lots of his friends.


Ashish and his friends were dancing very close to Arpita's table. And after some time, Ashish apparently spilt his drink on Arpita. When Arpita asked him about this, he told her that he could buy her table out, if he wanted to. This is supposed to have got to Sohail, who then started fighting with Ashish.


Wow! Bhai ho to aisa! But we're sure if Salman bhai had been around that evening, things would have been even more scary for anyone who dared mess with his sister!

Salman Khan hosted a party last night to celebrate Arbaaz and Arpita's birthday



Salman Khan hosted a belated birthday bash last night at a suburban night club to celebrate his brother Arbaaz (August 4) and sister Arpita's (August 3) birthdays.


Says a source, "Salman is thrilled with the response to the Dabangg promo and was in a mood to party. He decided to have a combined bash to celebrate the response to the promos and his siblings' birthdays."


Every year, Salman throws a big bash for his younger sister Arpita. Last year it was at a five-star hotel near his house in Bandra but this time, the venue was a Juhu nightclub. The party was delayed by a few days as some of Arpita's close friends were not in town.


Adds the source, "Salman gives a free rein to Arpita and lets her decide everything from the menu to the venue and the guest list."


Those who attended the party included Farah Khan, Sajid Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala, Riteish Deshmukh and Dabangg heroine Sonakshi with her parents Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha. Aamir Khan left on Wednesday night for Australia to promote Peepli [Live] at the Melbourne film fest and couldn't attend.

Salman-Sohail together again

After creating a riot in MAINE PYAAR KYUN KIYA, Salman Khan and Sohail Khan would be seen together again. The brothers are pairing up once again for GOD TUSSI GREAT HO, the promos of which are back on air again, though concentrating on song and dance routine this time around.

Readers may remember that over the week gone by the film's promos had gone off air. There were murmurs that this was done at the insistence of Salman Khan who felt that the promos were not up to the mark. Also, the promos clearly indicated that GOD TUSSI GREAT HO was a direct rip off of Jim Carrey/Morgan Freeman starrer BRUCE ALMIGHTY.

However, a couple of new promos have been cut and unleashed on the music channels which concentrate primarily on fun, masti and maza.

It is a reprise of MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI situation in the number 'Chalti Kya' which is seeking audience attention. Taking off from a situation similar to that of the title song of MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI that had Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar vying for Priyanka Chopra's attention, 'Chalti Kya' sees Sohail Khan replacing Akshay Kumar and matching steps with Salman and Priyanka.

Sohail has been in the news for the last 10 days mainly due to a riotous guest appearance in JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA. Along with Arbaaz Khan, he was the surprise package of the film and got the house down with his Rajasthani cowboy antics. The film has got him extensive mileage and one is left wondering that why is he not seen demonstrating his fun side more often to the audience?

In the coming days, Sohail and Salman would be seen a part of films like HELLO, MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA, HEROES and AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY.

Sallu starrer Main Aur Mrs Khanna is first film to get permission to shoot at high security airport

Salman Khan’s Main Aur Mrs Khanna has managed the near-impossible. They’ve got permission to shoot at the Sydney Airport.

The crew managed to get the go-ahead to shoot from 10 pm to 6 am after part of the airport was shut for them.

A source from the sets reveals, “It was very hard for an Indian producer to get permission to shoot at a high risk place like an airport.

But the producers, UTV Motion Pictures and Sohail Khan Productions, managed to pull it off. The sequences at the airport are an integral part of the script.

Where The Action’s At: Sydney Airport Terminal Control Unit
The unit has been pulling night shifts for the film. All the lead actors, Salman, Kareena and Sohail have to report on the airport at 9 pm and they stay on till 7 am.”

The film is directed by debutant Prem Soni and the unit is amidst a month-long shooting stint.

Actor-producer Sohail Khan confirms, “We did shoot at the Sydney Airport.

It was fun but very hectic. Right now we are shooting in Melbourne and will be back to in Mumbai on June 15 and will begin post-production work.”

Busy Khan, can do it!
Salman Khan will work round the clock in the coming months. The actor, who is busy shooting in Australia, for MAMK will not get a breather till the end of the year.

After returning from Australia, he begins shooting for Vipul Shah’s London Dreams. The initial shoot for LD will last till mid-August in Mumbai.

In September, the unit goes to London to wrap the film. After this, Khan will stay back to start shooting for Veer from November, penned by him.

So when is the actor going to give time to his new show 10 Ka Dum?

Kareena and Salman together again

Salman Khan is ready to share the screen with brother Sohail Khan again.

Last seen in the super hit Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, they are back with Main Aur Mrs Khanna directed by debutant Prem Soni.

And guess who will be romancing the Khans this time? None other than the wonder girl Bebo. When Sohail was recently asked how it felt to be working with Salman bhai after a long hiatus, he said, “Salman bhai is my lucky charm.

He has been very good for me. All the films I did with him have been very successful. Every time I direct or produce a film where he is there, it becomes a hit.

Apart from that, it’s always nice to be on the sets with bhai. We get to spend time together which is not possible otherwise as everyone is busy. He makes the sets very lively. I cherish every moment of shooting with him.” Spoken like a true brother. Must say, bhai hai to aisa!

Aryan Unbreakable - Movie Review

More than a decade ago, Sohail Khan was planning to turn director with a script that would star Jeetendra’s nephew Abhishek Kapoor in the lead. The project didn’t materialize; Sohail made his directorial debut with AUZAAR [Salman Khan, Sanjay Kapoor], Abhishek too got launched as an actor by someone else. Now, Sohail and Abhishek team up in different roles: Sohail is the actor, Abhishek the director.

Let’s face it! On face value, ARYAN doesn’t generate curiosity, like one of those biggies around the corner. But the film, starring Sohail Khan in the lead and directed by actor turned director Abhishek Kapoor, takes you by complete surprise as the reels unfold.

If the promos of ARYAN give an impression that the film is all about boxing, you’re partly right. Boxing is an integral part of the storyline, but the film has much more to offer. It’s also about the relationship between a husband-wife and the ups and downs in their relationship.


In most cases, you do notice some raw edges when you watch a film directed by a first-timer. But Abhishek Kapoor seems to have done his homework pretty well and the deft handling of the subject matter deserves highest praise. In fact, his handling of the emotional, tense and thrilling moments in the film will leave you spellbound.

Without doubt, ARYAN is one of the most stylish films, with content to match!

Aryan [Sohail Khan] was born to fight. He is the college champ and under the tough training of Coach Ranveer Singh [Puneet Issar], he dreams of winning the nationals. His love, Neha [Sneha Ullal], is more than just his better half. She is his support system, his strength. He needs her to be around every time.

Life takes a turn and Aryan chooses to give up his dreams and marry his love instead. They have a kid and start living a common man’s life. Life moves on and so does Aryan. He takes up a job as a sports commentator, but life is never the same for him. He hits a low professionally, as well in his married life.

One day, his ex-coach asks him to get back into the ring and gives him the courage to face the world head on. Aryan decides to follow his dreams again, but he isn’t the man he used to be. His support system, his wife, has left him. Will Aryan be able to achieve his dreams?

The Sylvester Stallone starrer ROCKY has had its share of admirers in Bollywood. Years ago, Raj Sippy captured the sport on celluloid in BOXER and now, Abhishek Kapoor does so in ARYAN. While Sippy’s version of BOXER was well shot too, the film lacked a strong emotional side that would balance the combat in the penultimate reels. That’s where ARYAN really scores!

ARYAN starts off as a routine love story, of a rich girl and a poor guy, but the emotions come to the fore as the husband and wife go separate ways. And the rift in the relationship is very well depicted here.

Another highpoint of the film is its penultimate 30-minute climax fight, where the protagonist not only has to crush his opponent in the boxing ring, but by winning the match also earn respect in the eyes of his wife and son. The fight-to-finish boxing sequences are outstanding and a never-seen-before experience on the Hindi screen.

Anand Raaj Anand’s music is soulful. ‘Jaaneman’ and ‘Chhuna Hai Aasman Ko’ are two tracks that stand out; the former for melody and the latter for the overpowering spirit. Ranjit Barot’s background score is electrifying. Cinematography [Neelabh Kaul] is topnotch. In fact, the cinematographer along with action co-ordinators Chris Anderson and Mahendra Verma and editors Renjit B. Vattakattu and Shakti Hasija deserve distinction marks for the penultimate fight. Something like this has rarely been seen on Bollywood screen before!

ARYAN gives ample scope to Sohail Khan to portray the gamut of emotions and Salman’s youngest brother proves that given an opportunity, he can rise to the occasion. He gets to portray three diverse shades in the film -- lover boy, husband and frustrated man -- and his performance stands out all through.

Sneha Ullal, who made her debut in LUCKY, shows improvement over her debut performance. However, she looks too young to carry off a mature role. Puneet Issar [excellent], Satish Shah [effective], Supriya Karnik [vicious to the core] and Inder Kumar [menacing to the hilt] compliment the lead characters. Farida Jalal is okay. Suved Lohia has the trappings of a natural actor. Fardeen Khan, in a special role, is first-rate.

On the whole, ARYAN is a well-made film that combines style and substance beautifully. Unfortunately, the box-office will sing a different tune altogether! Reasons: [i] Not-too-attractive face-value, [ii] Delayed release and [iii] Oppositions in KABUL EXPRESS this week and BHAGAM BHAG next week. To sum up, despite strong merits, ARYAN will be knocked down in the box-office ring!
