'Golmaal Returns' bigger & better

Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision and director Rohit Shetty make a winning combo. The producer-director duo came together in GOLMAAL and the results were favourable. The laughathon proved a money spinner, with the producers/distributors laughing all the way to the bank.

Now the winning combo has teamed up for the second time in GOLMAAL RETURNS. And the second instalment of the GOLMAAL franchise promises even more fun. How do we know that? Well, this writer had an exclusive dekho of its first promo as also two [entire] songs from the film [the promos will be on air by mid-September].

GOLMAAL RETURNS promises double dhamaal as there's glamour in abundance this time. Besides a bevy of beauties [Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Celina Jaitley and Anjana Sukhani], there's a new actor in place of Sharman Joshi. It's Shreyas Talpade.

What does one look forward to in the promo and also in those two songs? We won't reveal much, but here's something that you can relish… In Ajay's debut-making film PHOOL AUR KAANTE, the actor made a grand entry atop two moving bikes. The same feat was repeated in GOLMAAL. Now watch Ajay atop two Hummers, while Kareena makes an entry on a sports bike.

The title song has all the germs to be a chartbuster. The energy is infectious and you're hooked on to it the moment you watch it. But the song that also catches your attention is the one where Ajay and Arshad are at loggerheads. Right from bows and arrows to blasts, this song has it all. The makers have spent a fortune [Rs. 2.5 cr.?] on this number.

If the songs of GOLMAAL RETURNS are an indication of what is to follow, expect a laugh-riot to explode this Diwali.

This Diwali: Salman exits, SRK enters

The Diwali week [October 24] may witness changes! Initially, Subhash Ghai's YUVRAAJ and Ashtavinayak's GOLMAAL RETURNS were expected to arrive on that date, but according to trustworthy sources, YUVRAAJ won't make it in Diwali. Now's here's the new development: SRK's BILLU BARBER is confirmed for the Diwali week.

"That's true," Sunil Lulla of Eros tells me, "We are not releasing YUVRAAJ on October 24. But BILLU BARBER is definitely arriving on that date. That's for sure. As for YUVRAAJ, we need to work out a fresh date with Subhash-ji." Meanwhile, there's talk that even GOLMAAL RETURNS might be shifted ahead, although its producers, Shree Ashtavinayak, hasn't officially made a statement to that effect.

While on release dates, UGLY AUR PAGLI, which was confirmed for July 25, has been moved ahead. It will now arrive on August 1.

Not without my shampoo

Bangkok: Trouble appears to strike Tusshar Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor simultaneously. After their Bangkok traffic jam scare ('Stuck? Take a tuk tuk'; June 12), the duo faced problems at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi international airport on June 17.

Tusshar recalls, "I had been travelling continuously for three days. I arrived in Mumbai on June 15, shot for Life Partner and flew off to Bangkok the next morning for Golmaal Returns. Since I had to come back on the 17th, I only carried my handbag with me with essential accessories like shampoo, conditioner, one set of clothes, make-up remover and hair accessories as I have darkened my hair in Golmaal Returns."
Bebo was also travelling on the same flight.

When the two Kapoors reached the airport they went through agonising moments. "The airport authorities confiscated my shampoo, conditioner and make-up remover as they are not allowed on the flight.

I hate losing things because you don't get the same brands everywhere. I was only allowed to keep my clothes and some other essentials. Bebo had some yoghurt containers which she had to throw away as they thought what we were carrying could be dangerous! Can you believe that?" Tusshar laughs.

Once they landed, they headed to the set of Golmaal Returns. "We shot the title promotional song. We stayed at the Royal Cliff Hotel and every night, we had a party binging on Japanese, Chinese and Indian food. There was an Indian cook who made mutton raan for us one night. In the morning we would all work out with Ajay Devgan, Kajol and Tanisha joining us."

Kareena: Around the world in 365 days

Bebo whizzed into Mumbai to spend time with neice, Samaira; will catch up with Saif in London soon

Kareena Kapoor has been shooting round the clock. First it was for Sohail Khan’s Main Aur Mrs Khanna in Australia, thereafter she headed to Bangkok for IIFA in and then to Pattaya for Golmaal Returns. But the actress, who is devoted to her niece, Samaira Kapur (sister Karisma and brother-in-law Sanjay’s daughter), flew in from for three days to spend three days with her.

Says Kareena, “I have been in Australia shooting for MAMK since over a month. After IIFA, I went to Phuket for the shooting of Golmaal Returns and Head & Shoulders ad. I missed Samaira and Lolo (her sister, Karisma) terribly so I flew all the way back to Mumbai for two days on June 17 to see my niece and sis. I was dying to give Samaira a hug and cuddle. Mom (Babita) was there in Melbourne with me but I haven’t seen Sam and Lolo in a long time.”

Kareena left Mumbai last night to head to Amsterdam for a show with Shah Rukh Khan. Adds Kareena, “After the show I will go to London and spend a few days with Saif there while he’s shooting for his home production and after that, I fly off to Los Angeles for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakht Ishq. Once that is complete, there is no break for me. After I return in August, I start shooting for Raju Hirani’s next with Aamir.”

Saif is miserable in London without Bebo. Kareena laughs, “We are missing each other. I haven’t met Saif since IIFA, where we met for only three hours. Now I will spend a couple of days with him in London after the Amsterdam show and that time will be ours alone...”

Kareena has no regrets about Tashan unlike co-stars Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan. She says, “My performance was appreciated and my looks and styling were the most talked about. My figure became a debate for national news! I am happy Tashan and what it gave me. Films doing or not doing well doesn’t affect me. Success and failures are a part and process of life. Today I have the best lineup of films and it can’t get better. I am happy with life…”

Golmal in Bangkok

Filmmaker, Rohit Shetty knows how to make the best use of his heroines. Well, before you think of something cheeky, let’s tell you this ace director is currently in Bangkok and he is shooting with three glam girls for a promotional video.

“I am not shooting only with Kareena, Amrita Arora and Celina Jaitley, but with the guys of Gomaal Returns too.” says Rohit from Bangkok. He informs us that GR is complete and he is in Bangkok with the main star cast of the film to shoot a promotional song.

It is believed that Rohit was planning to add an item song featuring all his beautiful actresses. When asked Rohit denied by calling it as a rumour. He says, “That’s not true. It is not an item song but a promotional video, which will feature all the star cast of the film. Ganesh Acharya is choreographing this hip hop song which has been sung by Neeraj Sridhar.”

It can be recalled that Golmaal was more of a guy’s film but its sequel Golmaal Returns is going to be a complete romantic comedy. It is scheduled to release in October.

Kareena’s dizzy spell

Suffers from nausea while shooting in Goa but Bebo claims she only hurt her knee!

Kareena Kapoor suddenly took ill in Goa yesterday morning where she is shooting for Ashtavinayak’s Golmaal Returns. It is learnt that she complained of dizziness and exhaustion.

Says a unit member, “Kareena came on the sets but soon started feeling weak and feverish. She was dizzy and couldn’t shoot till she was given papaya juice.”

Adds the source, “Goa has been like a boiling cauldron since the past few days. The cast and crew have been staying at the Intercontinental Hotel in Canacona Beach and shooting at a private beach for the past week. The heat and humidity got to Kareena. She was dehydrated. Everybody was extremely concerned about Kareena as she has been in the news for her size zero after her strict diet and exercise regime.”

It is learnt that Saif, who is in Goa, rushed to the sets after hearing about Bebo’s health condition.

Golmaal Returns director Rohit Shetty says, “Kareena wasn’t feeling too well when she came on the sets yesterday. She was feeling sick and giddy, but didn’t faint. It wasn’t anything serious. Kareena was given fresh fruit juices after which she was fine and completed her shots.”

Kareena, however, claims, “I didn’t faint or suffer a dizzy spell on the sets. I only hurt my knee. There is nothing wrong with me. I lost weight for Tashan to have a toned look and now I am back to my normal diet.”

The actress adds, “I have a great dietician and trainer. I love food too much to starve. I do yoga regularly which helps me physically and mentally. I feel great and am on top of the world today!”

Besides Bebo, Golmaal Returns stars Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Amrita Arora and Celina Jaitley.

Unit sources also state that Ajay, too, has not been keeping well. He is suffering from bouts of acidity due of the heat. The unit member says, “Till Ajay fell ill all the stars had been working out together under Ajay’s trainer Shereveer Vakil. Saif also accompanies Kareena for the workouts.”

But Devgan has now apparently got better. Informs the source, “Yesterday for lunch he treated the entire cast to a lunch of oysters and clams.”

Currently the climax of Golmaal Returns is being shot with the entire star cast.
Kareena’s dietician Rujuta Diwekar says

Bebo’s not a size zero. She’s an intelligent girl who would never go on a crash diet leaving the nutrients out. She knows she has to look good. Kareena has six to seven meals a day consisting of cereal, milk, fruits and coconut water in the morning. She has cheese, soya milk, Goan curry, chaas, curd, wholewheat bread with peanut butter as mini-meals through the day. For dinner it is paneer tikka and vegetables. Kareena is absolutely fine.
